Faye Dunaway fired from one-woman play 'Tea at Five' before Broadway run: Reports
Faye Dunaway has reportedly been fired from the Broadway-bound "Tea at Five."
The Oscar-winning actress played Katharine Hepburn in Matthew Lombardo's one-woman play during its pre-Broadway run at Boston's Huntington Theatre. Dunaway was set to reprise her starring role on Broadway next year, but the play is now looking for a new leading lady.
Producers Ben Feldman and Scott Beck told The New York Times and the New York Post Wednesday that they "terminated their relationship with Faye Dunaway."
"Plans are in development for the play to have its West End debut early next year with a new actress to play the role of Katharine Hepburn," Feldman and Beck said in a statement to the outlets.
The show's producers didn't elaborate on the reasoning behind Dunaway's ouster.
"Tea at Five" would have marked Dunaway's first Broadway performance in nearly 40 years, since "The Curse of an Aching Heart" in 1982.
The actress won an Academy Award for the 1977 film "Network."
