The podcast, the name of which calls back to the show’s cassette tape messages between Keri Russell’s eponymous main character and her friend Sally, voiced by Janeane Garofalo, is hosted by The Ringer’s Juliet Litman alongside Felicity alums Amanda Foreman and Greg Grunberg, who played the titular character’s college friends, Meghan and Sean. It’ll feature special guests from the show, including stars Russell, Scott Speedman, Scott Foley, Amy Jo Johnson, Ian Gomez and Tangi Miller, memorable guest star Jennifer Garner, as well as co-creators J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves (who also executive produce the podcast) and theme song composer Andrew Jarecki.
In addition to Abrams and Reeves, the podcast is produced by Bad Robot Audio’s Christina Choi and Shaka Tafari.
Instead of following the same format as other TV rewatch podcasts, this one is said to have an “innovative structure, with episodes covering themes and story arcs to facilitate broader conversations about Felicity, The WB, the careers of those involved and how the television business functioned.”
Abrams, who is co-CEO of Bad Robot, shared in a statement, “The experience of Felicity was formative for so many involved. It is such a joy to relive that time, reexamine the episodes and hear from so many of the wonderful and creative people who helped bring the show to life.”
Felicity premiered on The WB in September 1998, with the high school graduate (Russell) deciding to drop her plans to go to Stanford University to instead follow her crush, Ben (Speedman) to the fictional University of New York. The series’ four seasons are currently available to stream on Hulu.
