Fighter box office collection day 11: Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan’s movie earns $21 million
After a somewhat subdued start during the weekdays, Fighter gained substantial momentum in its second weekend. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the box office collection witnessed a commendable jump, totaling $3.3 million for the second weekend. The film kicked off the weekend with $692K on Friday and achieved the $1.2 million mark on Saturday, further reaching new heights on Sunday with a staggering $1.5 million.
This upward trajectory has propelled Fighter’s overall box office figures to an impressive $21.1 million. What initially seemed like a daunting task now appears achievable as Fighter gears up to cross the coveted $24 million mark domestically. Globally, the film’s gross is approaching $36 million, marking a significant milestone for Fighter.

However, not all is smooth sailing for the film. Director Siddharth Anand recently found himself embroiled in a social media storm due to his unconventional claims regarding the film’s lackluster performance. In a recent interview, Anand attributed the struggle to connect with the Indian audience to the film’s unique setting in the world of aviation.
He stated, “Fighter is a huge leap. It’s a space that is unexplored and absolutely new for the Indian audience. If you realize, there is a huge percentage of our country… I would say 90% who have not flown in planes! Who has not been to an airport! So how do you expect them to know what’s happening in the air?”
Fighter movie's director says his film didn't do well because 90% of Indians hasn't experienced airports or air travel, so they couldn't relate to his film.
Oppenheimer worked because 90% of Indians are into nuclear physics, Ek Tha Tiger worked because 90% of Indians are RAW… pic.twitter.com/wBqSfS6hVI— THE SKIN DOCTOR (@theskindoctor13) February 2, 2024
This unconventional rationale sparked a social media frenzy, with users taking a humorous approach to criticize the director.
As it is now, Fighter is gearing up for its second Monday, and all eyes are on how the film will continue to perform in its second week.
