Film 'Selena' kicks off Latin film series at The Little Theatre

This month, the Little Theatre celebrates the life and legacy of the late iconic Mexican-American singer Selena Quintanilla Pérez with the ?Presente! Latin Film Series.

Jason Barber and Annette Ramos will organize this series, which will highlight Latin filmmakers and storytellers in America to promote a better understanding and appreciation of Latin heritage in American culture.

The film "Selena" pays tribute to the singer, known professionally as Selena, as a symbol of the rich Latin culture in the music industry, which continues to inspire fans and artists worldwide. The screening will be inside Theater One at the Little Theatre on East Avenue. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14, and the film is expected to start at 7 p.m.

Before the screening, guests will be able to enjoy a performance by the local band ELLAS, which will include a tribute to the late singer's music. ELLAS was formed in 2019 when four women decided to come together after having supported each other in their respective bands.
