Boorloo/Perth-based metalcore band Patient Sixty-Seven are about to unveil their latest EP What If It Never Gets Better and we’ve got your exclusive first listen right here.
Produced/mixed by Ryan Botha (Sleeping With Sirens’ Kellin Quinn, Underoath’s Aaron Gillespie), the powerful six-track record tackles a string of confronting themes, from body dysmorphia to self-harm and mental vulnerability.
Patient Sixty-Seven – What If It Never Gets Better
“What If It Never Gets Better was a really important EP for us to write,” the band explains in a press statement. “The songs are about working through the obstacles in your life – grappling and coming to terms with the things that have weighed you down for a long time. The songs felt cathartic to write and record because they were a chance to face those challenges head-on. It’s our angriest and most heartfelt record to date all at once, and I hope people can connect with the songs in the same way we did while writing them. ”
Their statement continues: “There are songs about heartache, about grief, about facing those who have hurt you and trying to move on. What If It Never Gets Better is about asking that exact question by working through the hard times and trying to come out on the other side in one piece.”
What If It Never Gets Better will form the follow-up to Patient Sixty-Seven’s debut album, Wishful Thinking, which charted on both Billboard (USA) and ARIA, as well as topping both iTunes Metal and AIR’s Independent Label Charts.
Take it for a spin up above, otherwise Perth fans can catch the band performing live supporting Sienna Skies at the city’s Amplifier Bar on Saturday, 18th May.
