First look at cast, premise for new SNL origin film
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The first trailer for the upcoming origin story of “Saturday Night Live” has been released Thursday.
It is one of the first looks at the film which is set to come out later this fall. The film centers around the original cast of the NBC show leading up to the first broadcast back on Oct. 11, 1975.
Gabriel LaBelle stars as Lorne Michaels, the creator of the show, and the movie will have appearances by J.K. Simmons, Willem Dafoe and Rachel Sennott. Ella Hunt will take on the role of comedy legend and Michigan native Gilda Radner.
The film is also directed by Jason Reitman, who is best known for his other films like “Thank You For Smoking” and “Juno.”
