‘Flip or Flop’ Co-Host Tarek el Moussa Saved by Fan Who Spotted Cancerous Lump
Tarek El Moussa, the real estate expert who co-hosts HGTV’s “Flip or Flop” with his wife, Christina, has credited an eagle-eyed fan for saving his life.
A registered nurse named Ryan Read emailed the show’s production company in 2013 to suggest that Moussa get a medical checkup for a large nodule on his thyroid, according to The Independent.
When he got the lump biopsied, his doctors discovered that it was cancerous and had spread to his lymph nodes. He has since undergone surgery to remove the tumor and thyroid radioactive iodine therapy.

In an interview with People.com published Sunday, Moussa reported that his cancer is now in remission.
“I feel good, but I don’t have the energy I used to have,” El Moussa, 34, told the media outlet. “The only thing is most days or like half the time I feel a little jetlagged. I’m really tired.”
Moussa and his wife have two children, daughter Taylor and son Brayden, who was born in August.
