Former late-night host Craig Ferguson bringing comedy to Southern Theatre

Emmy-winning comedian Craig Ferguson, best known for his stint as host of the long-running "The Late Late Show," is returning to Columbus on Nov. 1 for another show at the Southern Theatre.

Ferguson, who is on his "Pants on Fire" tour, came to the Southern last August.

Tickets for the show start at $32 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the CBUSArts ticket center at the Ohio Theatre, 39 E. State St., by phone at 614-469-0939 and online at capa.com or cbusarts.com.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Ferguson began his entertainment career in his teens as a drummer for several punk bands. He credits a bandmate with encouraging him to try stand-up.

After a successful set at the Edinburg Festival Fringe, Ferguson landed many TV roles and starred in his own BBC television show before coming to the U.S.

Also an actor, writer, producer and director, the 62-year-old performer's diverse career spans film, television and stage. In addition to "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," which aired for 10 years on CBS, he has recorded several stand-up specials for Amazon, Comedy Central, EPIX and Netflix.

In addition, Ferguson has written New York Times bestselling novels including "Between the Bridge and the River" and "American on Purpose," a memoir about why and how he became a U.S. citizen. The latter book was nominated for a Grammy Award for "Best Spoken Word."
