'Four Weddings and a Funeral' sequel: Exclusive behind-the-scenes clip reveals who's tying the knot
Before Red Nose Day came along, Lily James, Alicia Vikander and Sam Smith were among Four Weddings and a Funeral's many fans. Now they're part of the story. One Red Nose Day and a Wedding, a "sequel" to the 1994 British rom-com by the original director and screenwriter, stars James, Vikander and Smith alongside the film's original cast, including Hugh Grant, Andie MacDowell, Rowan Atkinson and Kristin Scott Thomas. The short film will premiere during NBC's Red Nose Day Special on Thursday, May 23. Watch an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip, including a priceless joke about the film's famous last scene, above.
"It feels like I'm walking into one of my favorite comedies of all time," Vikander says in the clip. The Oscar winner for The Danish Girl plays the daughter of Kristin Scott Thomas's eccentric character, Fiona, while James plays the daughter of Four Weddings and a Funeral's central couple, Charles (Grant) and Carrie (MacDowell). In One Red Nose Day and a Wedding, Vikander and James are the lucky couple tying the knot in front of Atkinson's hapless priest. And even though Charles and Carrie never made it to the altar themselves, they're still together to walk their daughter down the aisle.
Red Nose Day, an annual fundraiser launched in the U.K. in 1988, is in its fifth year on U.S. television. In the past four years, the charity event has raised almost $150 million to fight child poverty in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, as well as internationally.
One Red Nose Day and a Wedding will premiere during The Red Nose Day Special on NBC on May 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
