Fox Inks Broadcast Direct Deal With ‘Doc’ EP Hank Steinberg
Fox is adding another veteran writer and producer to its roster of broadcast direct deals.
The network has signed Without a Trace and The Last Ship creator Hank Steinberg to such a pact, under which Steinberg will develop drama series that will be wholly owned by Fox. Steinberg is currently an executive producer of Doc, a medical drama set to premiere on Fox in early 2025.

“Hank is an invaluable creative partner and collaborator, already delivering the intense new medical procedural Doc to the network,” said Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn. “Expanding this relationship builds on Hank’s proven track record for creating undeniable, broad-appeal franchises, and with his incomparable voice, will bring even more incredible, unexpected entertainment to Fox’s audiences worldwide.”
Added Steinberg, “The experience of working on Doc with Michael, [head of drama] Brooke Bowman and the entire Fox team has been one of the most rewarding of my career. Their passion and support from the moment we pitched the show has been unwavering, and Michael’s clarity and vision as the distributor of the content creates such a cohesive dynamic within which to work. I’ve always admired the risk-taking of Fox’s brand within the realm of network programming, and I really look forward to continuing and expanding on our success together.”
Based on an Italian series, Doc stars Molly Parker as Dr. Amy Larsen, the chief of internal and family medicine at a Minneapolis hospital. After suffering a brain injury that erases the last eight years of her memory, Amy has to “navigate an unfamiliar world where she has no recollection of patients she’s treated, colleagues she’s crossed, the soulmate she divorced, the man she now loves and the tragedy that caused her to push everyone away,” per the show’s description. Steinberg executive produces with showrunner Barbie Kligman and Erwin Stoff.
Steinberg joins Dan Harmon (Krapopolis), Denis Leary (the upcoming Going Dutch), Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse co-director Rodney Rothman, Matt Nix and Justin Adler in signing braodcast direct deals at Fox. Steinberg’s credits also include ABC’s For Life and The Nine and HBO’s movie 61*.
