Fox Nation aims to use the series to launch a new “Fox Faith” vertical showcasing religious content, says Lauren Petterson, president of the streaming service, in a statement. A documentary hosted, narrated and executive produced by famed director Martin Scorsese –“Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints” — will debut on Sunday, November 17. The initiative will run through the holiday season with the launch of “Jesus Crown of Thorns,” a docudrama produced in partnership with Nutopia, which will offer a new telling of the life of Jesus.
Once largely seeded with programming that tackled news and politics, Fox Nation has for months expanded into lifestyle and documentary programming. A month at Fox Nation might offer docu-series about national landmarks and parklands, or a suite of Clint Eastwood movies, all part of a bid to lure conservative viewers with series and films that might appeal to them. Fox has never stated publicly how many subscribers pay for the service.
“God. Family. Football” is was created by Aaron Benward and produced by Watershed Motion Pictures with executive producers Benward, Jared Goetz, Matt Woolsey, Cody Bess, Scott Brignac and Cliff Young.
