Fox News guest says young conservatives face 'uphill battle,' are 'more informed' than liberal peers
Conservative political activist Cabot Phillips turned some heads during Monday’s Fox & Friends over observations he’s made while talking to college students, most recently for a video segment he did at the private Christian school Liberty University. One thing he says he has found is that young conservative students are “more informed” than their liberal counterparts because they’ve had to be.
“This next generation of conservatives is coming of age in a time where they don’t really remember President Bush in office. They certainly don’t remember President Reagan,” Phillips said. “So, their entire life, it’s been an uphill battle, and they’ve also had to deal with President Obama.”
Phillips, who is media director for the conservative publication Campus Reform, noted as examples of the uphill battle faced by young conservatives that they must push back constantly against what they hear from the media, from their professors and society.
“Sadly, many liberal students, because they’re intellectually coddled in America, they don’t have to really arm themselves with facts and statistics,” Phillips said. “So young conservatives are oftentimes more engaged and more knowledgeable about their beliefs.”
Some viewers on Twitter agreed with Phillips, who doubled down on his statements with a tweet of his own.

What in the HELL did Obama ever do to conservatives of any age? Did he stop them from embracing their opinions or did he suggest they should be attacked? I want specifics. PUT UP OR SHUT UP.

In the case of President Trump, Phillips went on to say that young conservatives are happy to have someone in office who is fighting for them for the “first time in their life.”
“They love President Trump because he’s standing up to the bullying that many conservatives have had to deal with, and they’re used to having to deal with this PC culture,” Phillips said. “And President Trump right now is pushing back against that, and I think that’s why so many young conservatives feel empowered by him.”
