‘Friends’ 30th Anniversary Celebrated by Max With Curated “Best of” Collections
Oh…my…God!
In honor of the 30th anniversary of Friends on Sunday, Max is specially curating collections from the show’s 10-year run for people who are in the mood to watch specific episodes.

The collections are The Most Watched Episodes; Chandler Bing, the King of One-Liners (Best of Chandler); How YOU Doin’? (Best of Joey); We Were on a Break (Ross and Rachel Highlights); On Monica’s Menu (Best of Monica); Friendsgiving (Thanksgiving Episodes); Phoebe Buffay, AKA Regina Phalange (Best of Phoebe); and The One With the Celebrity Guest.
The anniversary celebration will also include interviews with the show’s creative team in three different featurettes: Friends From the Start, exploring the development of the show, casting for it and the challenges that arose in the early years; When Friends Become Family, diving into the inspiration and development of some of the most iconic and memorable moments from the show; and The Legacy of Friends, discussing bringing it to an end, its ongoing pop culture influence and lasting legacy.
While the anniversary is an exciting time for fans of the show, it can also be a little bittersweet, with it coming almost a year after Matthew Perry’s death. The beloved actor starred as Chandler alongside Courteney Cox’s Monica, Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel, Lisa Kudrow’s Phoebe, David Schwimmer’s Ross and Matt LeBlanc’s Joey.
Ahead of the Friends anniversary on Sunday, creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane, as well as executive producer Kevin S. Bright, spoke to the Today show about how Perry’s tragic death from the effects of anesthetic ketamine has cast a bit of a shadow on what would otherwise be a celebratory time.
“It’s a huge loss and it does make the 30th a little fraught,” Kauffman said in the interview, as Bright added, “He made us laugh every day.”
