From Traffic Routes to In-N-Out, 'La La Land' Stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone Reveal Their L.A. Expertise
Ryan Gosling grew up in Ontario, Canada. Emma Stone was born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. John Legend is from Springfield, Ohio, and Damien Chazelle relocated from Providence, Rhode Island.
They are the three main cast members and writer-director behind La La Land, Chazelle’s much-hyped musical love letter to Los Angeles, and like most folks in their field, now call Southern California home.

So we set out to find out how stereotypically “Los Angeles” these folks are with a series of questions (watch above). For example, do they get into lengthy, boring discussions about what streets and highways they took to drive somewhere? Do they eat sushi at strip malls? And do they wear a winter coat even when it’s 60 degrees out?

What we found out: Gosling gets his Californians on just like the rest of us in SoCal, Emma Stone orders off the secret menu at In-N-Out, and Chazelle — like Stone’s character Mia in the movie — drives a Prius in real life.
La La Land is expanding to more theaters on Friday.
