Fun Fest concerts kick off with Crowder; Tyler Hubbard, Goo Goo Dolls coming this weekend

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — Fun Fest kicked off its annual Sunset Concert Series on Thursday. There will be two more concerts this weekend and it is not too late to purchase tickets.

On Thursday, contemporary Christian artist Crowder headlined the show. Opening performer Blessing Offor welcomed him to the stage.

Country artist and former half of the Florida-Georgia Line duo, Tyler Hubbard, will be the main act on Friday. Emily Ann Roberts and Carson Peters will open the show.

The Hot Air Balloon Glow will be on Friday from 7-9 p.m.

Rock ‘n’ roll fans will help conclude the concert series on Saturday by welcoming the Goo Goo Dolls to the stage. Phillip Phillips will open the show.

The Eastman Fireworks Spectacular will follow Saturday’s concert.

Those interested in attending the Sunset Concert Series can purchase tickets here. The concerts are held at J. Fred Johnson Stadium in Kingsport.

Emily Thompson, director of Fun Fest, told News Channel 11 that the concert series is about music, food and a good time celebrating the community.

“We see a lot of family reunions and high school reunions happen during this time, but it’s such a great opportunity to go outside and have a picnic and then come inside and listen to some music,” said Thompson. “And we’re just really proud to continue to offer this to the community, and we’re proud to see this festival continue to grow and just really is a testament to this community, the businesses, the sponsors and all the volunteers that make it possible.”
