Future, Metro Boomin bring the heat to Intuit Dome
The newly opened Intuit Dome in Inglewood received another high-profile honor on Saturday: the trust of hip-hop icons Future and Metro Boomin.
The pair took the stage on Saturday in front of a sold-out crowd as part of their We Trust You tour, and the Southern California fans were rowdy for the Labor Day weekend show featuring two of the brightest stars of the Atlanta rap scene.
First separately and then together, Metro Boomin and Future took the audience through years of hits, including Metro’s “Ric Flair Drip,” Future’s “March Madness” and songs from the pair’s recent collaborative albums “We Don’t Trust You” and “We Still Don’t Trust You.”
Punctuated by pyrotechnics and blasts of flame from the stage, the performances served as a reminder of why Metro and Future have remained at the forefront of rap music ever since they burst onto the scene in the early 2010s.
Despite the years-spanning nature of the setlist, however, Metro and Future avoided the recent high-profile conflict between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, including their prominent role in it.
In fact, songs featuring Drake — a frequent collaborator of both — were not played, and though Metro and Future’s chart-topping “Like That” was the night’s second-to-last song, Lamar’s beef-provoking verse was left off.
Instead, as Future noted on X, formerly Twitter, before the Intuit Dome show, this tour is about “making new memories with the fans every day,” and afterward, he returned to social media to reveal L.A. lived up to the hype.
“THE LOVE 1000%,” he wrote.
