The project marks Bigelow’s first feature since the 2017 thriller Detroit, an awards contender produced and distributed by Annapurna Pictures, which starred John Boyega, Will Poulter, Kaitlyn Dever and more. News of the film was first divulged by Netflix recently during its Upfront presentation in New York, which also saw them spotlight upcoming films including Happy Gilmore 2 and the thriller The Woman in Cabin 10 starring Keira Knightley. Previously, Bigelow had been developing another Netflix film that never got off the ground — an adaptation of the novel Aurora from David Koepp.
Basso is best known for starring as the FBI’s Peter Sutherland in The Night Agent, Netflix’s conspiracy thriller based on Matthew Quirk’s New York Times bestseller, which is heading into its second season. Created by Shawn Ryan, the show made its way to No 6. on Netflix’s Most Popular TV chart within a month of its debut on the streamer. Previously starring opposite Laura Linney on The Big C, the actor’s feature credits include Hillbilly Elegy, The Kings of Summer and Super 8. He’ll next be seen starring opposite Jessica Alba in the Netflix action thriller Trigger Warning, out June 21, and in the Clint Eastwood film Juror #2.
Currently starring in Apple TV+ and Skydance’s sci-fi series Foundation, based on the works of Isaac Asimov, which is heading into its third season, Harris previously garnered Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for his starring role in HBO’s Chernobyl. In between Seasons 1 and 2 of Foundation, he shot the indies Brave the Dark and Reawakening, from his brother Damien Harris and Virginia Gilbert, respectively. Among his other upcoming projects is the series Royal Kill List for A+E Networks and Sky.
Basso is represented by WME, Sugar23, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes. Harris is repped by CAA, Independent Talent Group in the UK, Gateway Management Company, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
