'Game of Thrones' finale continues to divide fans: Which Emmys attendees loved — and loathed — the ending?
It has been four months since the Game of Thrones finale broke the internet and there's no place like the Emmy Awards to poll the industry and see what everyone really thought about who ended up on the Iron Throne. (And which TV stars didn't bother to watch the HBO hit at all.) So before GoT hit was crowned Best Drama Series, we canvassed the red carpet.
"Yeah, I really enjoyed it," Fleabag's Sian Clifford told Yahoo Entertainment (watch above). "I actually watched the final episode with Emlia Clarke and a group of pals and I think it was very emotional for them."
Barry's Anthony Carrigan gave a pretty PC answer. "Overall such a fantastic show, there's no real easy way to end a show like that," he said. "The actors were phenomenal I mean I feel like there was so much work put into it. I don't know, I enjoyed it."
"I love Game of Thrones. ... Yes, I did expect more, I was on the edge of my seat, but you know, it is what it is," Pose's Dominique Jackson admitted.
This Is Us star Niles Fitch shared he was rooting for Kit Harington's character, Jon Snow, to sit on the throne — like so many other fans. "I believe there was no right way to end the show," he said diplomatically. "While Bran was not my favorite character and I wish it was Kit Harington." But he cautioned, "I am not a writer."
Perhaps the answer of the night goes to Dawson’s Creek alumnus, Pose co-star and new Dancing With the Stars cast member James Van Der Beek.
"No," he laughed when asked if he was a fan of the series. "A kid got pushed out of the window on the first episode, I've got five kids ... nope."
