'Game of Thrones' fans spy another editing flub, one week after coffee cup-gate
Game of Thrones fans are taking in every second and every scene of their beloved HBO show as they count down to the final episode on May 19. Expectations are high for both the action and the editing in the show’s final episodes.
So when Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), who lost his hand to a sword back in the third season, was pictured with his hand intact, they called foul. Although Jaime has sported a gold prosthetic hand given to him by his sister Cersei (Lena Headey) for many years, in a photo promoting “The Bells” episode, he’s seen hugging her with two perfect hands.
HBO did not immediately respond to Yahoo Entertainment’s request for comment. However, Time magazine reported that the flub was limited to the promotional pic. The episode that aired did, in fact, feature the metallic hand.
You’ll remember that the May 5 episode of GoT featured what appeared to be an errant Starbucks cup, which kind of takes you out of the dragons and castles-world of Westeros. Now that one definitely made it on the air, although it was quickly removed using digital editing. Anyone who saw it after its premiere didn’t see the cup.
The show responded cleverly to the mistake, and actors in the cast joked about who was to blame. Coffee cup-gate took over the world, at least the GoT world, for a little while there.
Some fans cited the cup error when calling out the show for the sighting of Jaime’s hand.
