Garth Brooks Pens 'Better Than Ever' Tribute to Wife Trisha Yearwood on Her Milestone Birthday

Country singer Trisha Yearwood is turning 60—and helping her celebrate is her husband of nearly 20 years, fellow country star Garth Brooks.

The "Friends in Low Places" singer took to Instagram on Yearwood's birthday, Sept. 19, to share a stunning black-and-white photo of Yearwood in fishnets and heels, wishing his wife a very happy birthday with a heartfelt tribute.

"Happy Birthday, Trisha!!! You look better than ever, you ARE better than ever and I love you MORE than ever…love, me," Brooks captioned his post.

Yearwood shared Brooks' birthday post to her Instagram account, where fans were quick to wish her all the best.

"Wow what a beauty!!! Happy birthday Trisha!!!" wrote one commenter.

"Are you kidding me with this gorgeousness and vitality radiance ?!? Love ya girl. Have the best day ever and here’s to the happiest years ahead. CHEERS ?? ??" gushed a second person.

While Yearwood and Brooks tied the knot in 2005, they've actually known each other since 1987 when they met during a demo recording session in Nashville as struggling unsigned artists, according to People.

In 1991, Brooks provided backing vocals on Yearwood's self-titled debut album; that same year, Yearwood sang harmony on Brooks' Ropin' the Wind. The couple went on to win a Grammy award in 1998 for best country collaboration with vocals for "In Another's Eyes," a duet from Yearwood's 1997 album (Songbook) A Collection of Hits. It wasn't until 2001 that the pair started dating, following Brooks' divorce from college girlfriend Sandy Mahl.

When the couple married a few years later, Yearwood supported Brooks in his plan to take a step back from his career and focus on parenting his three daughters, Taylor, August and Allie, while she took on the role of "Bonus Mom."

Brooks returned to the spotlight in 2009 with a Vegas residency, including frequent appearances from Yearwood—and the couple has been collaborating and supporting each other ever since.
