Garth Brooks Shares Bold Reaction to Post Malone's Cover of 'Friends in Low Places'
Post Malone, Garth Brooks
Post Malone could very well be the next pop star to switch to country music. Luckily for the "Circles" singer, he recently received a rave review from Country Music Hall of Famer Garth Brooks—thanks to his cover "Friends in Low Places."
On April 12, Malone, 28, posted a video of himself playing the guitar while singing the chorus to Brooks' 1990 track. "Think I’ll slip on down to the oasis:) @garthbrooks." he captioned his Instagram post.
Brooks, 62, watched Malone's video during a recent episode of his Facebook Live show Inside Studio G. And it's safe to say he was impressed.
"This is awesome," Brooks said, noting he had "no idea" Malone would cover his song. "He's one of those guys that when he sings, he's alive. And you can tell that he just loves to do it."
The country crooner added, "I'm telling you the guy is amazing in the genre he is but he loves country music. I've heard it for years."
Notably, Brooks also compared Malone to singer Ray Charles.

For those curious, folks in the comments of Malone's Instagram post were equally impressed. One person wrote, "Oh he’s COUNTRY country!"
Another Instagram user commented, "Can’t wait for the switch up from all the old people once he drops a country cover album.. 'hey this post office guy isn’t that bad' ??."
Meanwhile, someone else declared, "?? that OHHHHHAHOHHASIS really touched me."
This isn't Malone's first foray into country music. He is featured on Beyoncé's song, "Levii's Jeans," on her country album Cowboy Carter. Additionally, he teased an upcoming collaboration with Luke Combs in February. Malone will also perform at the Stagecoach Festival (country music event) later this month.
