Gavin DeGraw, Colbie Caillat coming to Columbus Commons: Here's how to get free tickets
What's better than a summer concert? A free summer concert!
Downtown Columbus, Inc. and CAPA are bringing not just one, but two free shows to the John F. Wolfe Columbus Commons, beginning June 30 with singer-songwriters Gavin DeGraw and Colbie Caillat, then Aug. 25, Sugar Ray, Tonic and Lit take the stage.
Though both shows are free to attend, tickets are required to enter the Commons. A limited number of tickets for the DeGraw and Caillat concert are to be released at 10 a.m. Wednesday. They can be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis at columbuscommons.org/events/common-ground.
Tickets for the Sugar Ray, Tonic and Lit show are to be released at 10 a.m. July 31.
DeGraw gained fame with his song, "I Don't Want to Be," from his 2003 debut, "Chariot." The album's title track went to No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2005. Other hits include "In Love with a Girl" and "Not Over You."
His duet with Caillat on "We Both Know" for the 2013 film "Safe Haven" earned a Grammy Award nomination. The pair also headlined last year's "Amp Up the Arts" benefit for the Charleen & Charles Hinson Amphitheater in New Albany.

Caillat, who first drew attention through Myspace, is known for hits such as "Bubbly," "Realize" and "Lucky," a duet with Jason Mraz that won a Grammy in 2010. She was also part of the team that earned "Album of the Year" at the 2010 Grammy Awards for her vocals and writing on Taylor Swift's "Fearless."
August's concert features an all-Californian lineup. Sugar Ray, who hail from Newport Beach, racked up hits including "Fly," "Every Morning" and "Someday." Formed in Los Angeles, Tonic is known for the popular songs "If You Could Only See" and "You Wanted More."
Rounding out the West Coast trio is Lit, known for the hit single "My Own Worst Enemy."
