It’s the reunion fans have been waiting for: Deadline has confirmed that Genie Francis has returned to the set of General Hospital to appear in scenes with her on-screen son Jonathan Jackson.

Once Deadline revealed in June that Jackson was returning to the ABC sudser to reprise his role as Lucky Spencer, anticipation began to build among fans over the day when Francis’ Laura would reunite with the son she shares with Luke (Tony Geary).

Soap Opera Digest reports that Francis will be back beginning with the October 9 episode and will appear opposite Jackson.

Laura and Luke’s son Lucky was first introduced in 1993; Jackson was 11 when he originated the role. He played the part on and off until 2011, when he left to star as Avery Barkley in ABC’s Nashville for six seasons.

During his time on GH, Jackson was nominated for nine Emmys and won five in 1995, 1998, 1999, 2011 and 2012.

In an August interview, Jackson said “working with Genie was a big personal incentive to come back, because when I was there in 2010, 2011, Genie wasn’t on the show and I always kind of felt like I missed out on working with her as an adult, so I’m very excited about that, obviously.”
