Good Night, and Good Luck, the upcoming Broadway play penned by George Clooney and Grant Heslov, has released a new trailer with Clooney portraying famed journalist Edward R. Murrow.

The play is scheduled to begin previews at the Winter Garden Theatre on March 12, 2025, with an opening night set for April 3. Clooney will also make his Broadway debut in the play, which is currently scheduled to run through June 8. Additional casting has yet to be announced.

The stage play is based on the 2005 film written by Clooney and Heslov. It follows Murrow’s clash with U.S. Sen. Joseph McCarthy as Murrow pushes to continue reporting on McCarthy’s anti-communist efforts. David Cromer, who won a Tony Award for his direction of The Band’s Visit, will direct the production.

In the trailer, shot in black-and-white, Clooney sits at a CBS broadcast desk and speaks to the camera as scenes of a busy newsroom and political unrest are interspersed.

“There are a certain kind of people wired a certain kind of way who know there’s a story behind the story, if you’re bold enough to search for it, if you’re passionate enough to speak out, if you’re brave enough to stand up to the forces determined to keep you silent, no matter the consequences,” Clooney says.

“There are a certain kind of people who are the lifeblood of democracy. Never wavering. Never faltering. Never straying in their pursuit of what matters,” he continues. “And what matters? Honesty. Facts. Integrity. Accuracy. Truth.”
