'Get Out' star has touching moment with Oprah, thanks to Denzel
Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya made his late night American television debut on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, where he talked about meeting Oprah Winfrey at the Golden Globes, all thanks to Denzel Washington.
During the Golden Globes, Washington approached Kaluuya, using an English accent and saying “Cheers, mate!” Kaluuya said he couldn’t believe that Washington even knew who he was.
Kaluuya said, “Looking at Denzel is like being in a movie. ‘Cuz I’ve watched him in movies for so long, this is a movie that is happening to me.”
He said Washington got a big kick out of his being so shocked. Kaluuya said, “He went to his wife, ‘He can’t believe I know who he is!'”
Apparently Washington wanted to introduce Kaluuya to a very famous woman. Kaluuya said, “‘He goes, ‘Come meet Oprah.’ And I was like, ‘OK, let’s.’ And I hugged Oprah. I just hugged her.”
