GH, Other Soap Stars Rally Together In LA For Justice For Johnny Wactor
Nearly three weeks after the murder of former General Hospital star Johnny Wactor, dozens rallied in Los Angeles in hopes the city will continue its pursuit to catch his killers and become a safer city for all.
Soap Stars Unite
On June 12, 2024, people marched from the spot of Wactor’s murder to L.A. City Hall with Justice for Johnny signs, some also holding large cut-outs of Wactor’s face. Among the marchers were GH stars Parry Shen (Brad), Lydia Look (Selina), Joyce Guy (ex-Phyllis), and Wactor’s on-screen mom Bonnie Burroughs (Gladys).
Shen documented the march on his social media, sharing on Instagram a video clip of himself marching alongside Burroughs, both holding the cut-outs of Wactor while dozens followed behind them. “Being at the actual location of Johnny’s murder during the press conference elicited a wide array of emotions,” he wrote in his post. “Johnny always surrounded himself with good people. And I wanted to be among them all.”
Also in attendance was The Bay and former Days of Our Lives star Mike Manning (Caleb, The Bay, ex-Charlie, DAYS), while Guy shared on Instagram a photo from the Los Angeles Times that features herself alongside Shen and Burroughs.
Call To Action
Several GH stars have shared the call to action to get justice for the slain actor, with Shen sharing on Instagram, “Until these criminals are found (and I am ever hopeful they will be), it will be impossible to not think, ‘Johnny would’ve liked to have seen this too.'”
This march came after GH paid tribute to Wactor at the end of the June 11, 2024 episode, while director Robert Markham began his Daytime Emmy acceptance speech by sending thoughts and prayers to Wactor’s family and friends upon GH winning the award for Oustanding Directing.
