Gigi Hadid on How She Doesn't Let Fame Go to Her Head (Hint: It Involves a Lot of Long Island Medium)
We had bets in the PEOPLE offices that Gigi Hadid would be on the cover of a major magazine this morning. As it turns out, she didn’t land the one we had in mind — but she has an equally awesome gig booked for
Teen Vogue, with fellow high-fashion model Binx Walton.

Both girls say that they counter their massive fashion exposure (Hadid is a new face of Maybelline, while Walton has starred in Chanel ads) by keeping it real at home. “I live with my best friend from high school,” Hadid says in the magazine’s March issue. “We watch Long Island Medium and sit on the couch and talk about boys and things that have nothing to do with my job.” Walton’s apartment (which she shares with model Lexi Boling) sounds equally fun: “It’s a kids’ apartment for adults. It may not be the most beautiful place, but you never want to leave.”

But it’s not easy to stay grounded, especially when you’re jetsetting all over the globe to shoot in gorgeous locations and wearing zillions of dollars of couture. “I try to take it day by day and not let it get to my head,” Hadid says. “I want people I work with to have nice things to say about me with whoever they are having dinner with that night. That mind-set has led me to working on jobs I would have never imagined I would be doing.”

And Walton takes it a step further — juggling high school with high fashion. “Everyone told me to quit school, [but] I graduated the day after the Chanel show in Dubai,” she says. “I literally did the show, ran to the airport, flew all night, and walked across that stage. I was delirious.”
