'Gilmore Girls' Fans Are FURIOUS After the Massive Emmys "Jump Scare"

One thing that wasn't on our Emmys bingo card? A nod to the ever-popular show, Gilmore Girls.

Now, as fans know, the original show has been off the air since 2007, and even the reboot is nearly 10 years old (please, please, let there be a second season). And even though many of the actors have gone on to do other incredible projects, none of them were nominated for an Emmy Award on September 15.

So, it was pretty surprising that the ceremony would play the theme song — the iconic "Where You Lead" by Carole King — after Alex Edelman's win for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special. At first, many thought that it meant a surprise appearance by the cast was up next. But instead of seeing Lauren Graham or Alexis Bledel take the stage, the show went to a commercial. And let's just say, fans were not happy. So much so that they took to social media to express their frustration for the "jump scare."

"Gilmore Girls theme playing at the Emmys, don’t play with me," one person wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). "Why would you play the Gilmore Girls theme with Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel nowhere to be seen?," another asked. "Gilmore Girls theme song going to commercial with no reunion of the cast at the #Emmys is so rude," wrote someone else. "That Gilmore Girls theme song jump scare where’s Lauren Graham," a user also wrote.

Others were quick to call out that when the show was on television, it had only ever won one Emmy for Outstanding Makeup. Even more than that, the cast was never nominated for the show (Alexis eventually was nominated and won for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role in The Handmaid's Tale).

Even though we weren't able to see the cast, it is officially Gilmore Girls season, so there's plenty of GG content going around right now!
