Gloria Estefan, Daisy Fuentes, and Other Celebs React to Fidel Castro’s Death
The death of controversial former Cuban leader Fidel Castro ignited social media over the weekend. Many celebrities shared their reactions on their personal platforms when the news broke.
Gloria Estefan was born in Havana and left Cuba with her family when she was a little girl. The famous singer wrote a lengthy and emotional message on her Instagram page. She said, “Although the death of a human being is rarely a cause for celebration, it is the symbolic death of the destructive ideologies that he espoused that, I believe, is filling the Cuban exile community with renewed hope and a relief that has been long in coming.”
Cuban-born television personality Daisy Fuentes cleverly used a Clarence Darrow quote to express her feelings. She broke barriers as MTV’s first Latina VJ.
Non-Cuban celebrities like Cher and comedian Jeff Ross also chimed in and made their voices heard over Twitter.
Madonna is charging $5,000 for tickets to see her live. Find out more details about the exclusive show in this video:
