GloRilla Says People Call Rihanna Her “Twin”
GloRilla shares her celebrity look alike, or at least who others have likened her to. In an interview with Billboard‘s Carl Lamarre, the 25-year-old revealed that she has been physically compared to Rihanna.
“Riri [was] asking for the album and dancing to the song,” shared the Memphis rapper, referencing Rihanna’s viral “TGIF” Instagram moment.
“She don’t be dancing to people’s song. When she did that, I was like, ‘Wow,’ ’cause you know, people be saying that’s my twin. They be hatin’ on me. I love Rihanna. I’m a big fan of Rihanna. I love Beyoncé. I’m the biggest fan of Beyoncé. This was my third time meeting her and she’s always so sweet every time. I love her.”
This is not the “Blessed” performer’s first time showing her love for Bey and Rih. Last year, the Grammy-nominated hitmaker detailed her aspirations to achieve a similar level of success.
“Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny. They’re big dogs,” detailed GloRilla when asked about artists she is inspired by.
“I know Rihanna is a legend,” the “Tomorrow 2” rapper continued. “I know she’s iconic, but when she performed at the Super Bowl, she didn’t perform a lot of songs, and the songs she did perform, all of them were hits. This lady got so many hits… So I’m trying to come like that.”
The Billboard interview comes just ahead of her debut album Glorious. Set to feature artists including Sexyy Red, Megan Thee Stallion, T-Pain, and Kirk Franklin, the anticipated project is due on Friday (Oct. 11). Glorious comes after GloRilla released the mixtape Ehhthang Ehhthang in April.
“Last year, I was supposed to drop my debut album, but I was still just getting used to stuff and working a lot. When the top of the year came, I had the project basically done,” she explained.
“I was like, ‘OK, I gotta give them the mixtape before I give them the album,’ because I went the whole year without dropping anything. That’s why I said I was gonna give them the mixtape first, get em’ back used to me first, give ’em a feel of me, and then that’s gonna prep me for the album. The mixtape did good and did what it was supposed to do, which prepped me for my album.”
