Heading to Barrett-Jackson? Here's 10 new Scottsdale restaurants to try near WestWorld

Every January, the Barrett-Jackson auto auction rolls into Scottsdale with the nine-day event featuring more than 1,000 cars, trucks and other vehicles on display and for sale at WestWorld of Scottsdale. This year the auction will take place from Jan. 20-28.

Whether gearing up for a day at the auction, or celebrating the purchase of a new ride, all that excitement is likely to work up an appetite. Luckily, WestWorld is surrounded by an array of excellent restaurants and bars, including several exciting new eateries that have opened in the last year.

From french toast brunch to boozy milkshakes and Sonoran hot dogs, here are 10 new restaurants and bars to try near the 2024 Barrett-Jackson car auction.

Arboleda

This casual fine-dining restaurant opened at the Scottsdale Quarter in early 2023, serving Mediterranean-inspired dishes like crudos, pasta and paella. With dishes like tuna tartar and charred octopus, the menu focuses on small plates to be shared. The bright, airy restaurant has a large, elegant dining room with an olive tree in the center and plenty of outdoor seating on the patio.

Bar Cena

Bar Cena opened in October 2023 in Scottsdale right next door to chef-owner Dom Ruggiero's other restaurant, Hush Public House. The bar offers small plates such as baked camembert, muffuletta croquettes and crispy potato pave. Ruggiero described the restaurant's vibe as, "elevated drinking and dining in a casual and welcoming atmosphere with a neighborhood feel."

The Boozy

The Boozy's second location opened in Scottsdale last year after debuting in north Phoenix three years prior. Menu highlights include Sonoran chilaquiles, short ribs and a benedict with lox. To drink, the restaurant offers a large menu of cocktails and coffee. They also offer plenty of gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian items.

Breakfast Kitchen Bar

This brunch spot has something for everyone. One page of the menu is dedicated to syrupy brunch classics and the other features healthy breakfast options. Breakfast Kitchen Bar first debuted at Desert Ridge Marketplace in 2020 and recently opened a second location closer to Westworld. Menu highlights include huevos rancheros, breakfast burritos, a shrimp scampi omelet, buttermilk pancakes and French toast. The cocktail menu includes a lavender lemon mimosa, a jalape?o margarita and an espresso martini.

Desert Pony Tavern

This Southwest-inspired gastropub opened in early 2023 at the Hilton North Scottsdale at Cavasson. The menu includes Four Peaks beer fondue, a Tavern Stack burger, pan-roasted cauliflower and homestyle chicken tenders, plus a signature cocktail called "El Monte" made with Don Julio 1942 tequila, 21 seeds cucumber jalape?o tequila, agave and fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice with a tajin rim.

Hummus Republic

This California-based Mediterranean restaurant chain debuted its first Arizona location in Scottsdale near Westworld. Hummus Republic offers a build your own wrap, pita or bowl option for which customers choose a base, hummus and spread, protein, and then add dressings and unlimited toppings. Other menu items include a vegan "Earth burger", sweet potato fries, falafel and dolmades.

Jojo's ShakeBar

If you're looking to satisfy your sweet tooth or grab a drink after the car auction, Jojo's ShakeBar is the place to do both. Over-the-top milkshake options include the Wonder Years blueberry shake with candy marshmallows, gummy candy ribbon and cotton candy, and the boozy Chocolate Nirvana is a chocolate Oreo shake with a double chocolate donut hole, double chocolate marshmallow, a chocolate chip cookie and Bailey's Irish cream. Milkshakes can be made with or without alcohol.

Mochilero Kitchen

The recently-opened second location of this Peoria Mexican restaurant is less than 10 minutes from the Barrett-Jackson auction. Mochilero Kitchen offers short rib barbacoa, chicken tinga, roasted mushroom and carnitas tacos. Other menu items include chile negro enchiladas, a shrimp diablo burrito, guacamole and plantain chips, and a Sonoran hot dog.

Mr. Pickle's

Mr. Pickle's made its Arizona debut in 2023 with multiple Valley locations, including one less than 10 minutes from Westworld of Scottsdale. The sandwich shop sells French dip, Cali tuna, Rueben, BBQ melt and more than a dozen other sandwich options.

Toka Cafe & Grill
