Oliver Hudson just dropped a bombshell revelation about his relationship with wife Erinn Bartlett, whom he married in 2006.
The actor, 46, took charge on his podcast Sibling Rivalry, which he normally hosts with sister Kate Hudson, on the April 8 episode, inviting Robyn Lively on to chat about their own careers in comparison to their "mega famous siblings," and eventually moved on to discuss their respective romantic relationships and kids, especially as they pertain to their careers.
At one point, Lively asked if Hudson had any regrets about the jobs he turned down because of his family, but The Cleaning Lady star looks back on all of his choices, whether positive or negative, as steps on the path that made him who he is.
"I've made some horrible, horrible choices in my life just generally," he admitted. "You would think I regret doing that, but I don't know who I would be if I didn't make that choice."
One of those choices happened to be cheating on his then-fiancé, which he says stemmed from "something [that] happened psychologically" after they got engaged. "I was unfaithful, and I was cheating, and I was crazy," he said.
While he never got caught in his infidelity, he did fess up prior to the wedding. "I told her everything because I couldn't live with myself and get married and be married and have children with this sort of weight," he continued.
Ultimately, his mother, Goldie Hawn, "played a big part" in helping him overcome what he was dealing with, explaining that it was "about looking at the entirety and the totality of the relationship, not just the action. Even though it might seem extreme, let's dig in a little bit into why, and looking at the whole person rather than this one affliction."
Despite the betrayal, Hudson says there's "no doubt" that he's "a good man," noting no "malicious" intent while he "was going through whatever [he] was going through."
In the end, he regretted "causing pain," but he didn't regret the experience itself, acknowledging the growth it caused. "Honestly, if that didn't happen, I don't know what kind of a person I would be. So, do I regret it? I mean no, I guess not," he admitted.
The two are still married today and share three children: Wilder, 16, Bodhi, 13, and Rio, 10.
