'The Good Doctor' Fans "Can't Stop Crying" Over the Cast's Final Moment Together
This story contains spoilers for the series finale of The Good Doctor.
Viewers bid adieu to The Good Doctor after seven seasons on the air, and the show is giving fans one final farewell with a sweet dedication on social media.
As the ABC medical drama aired its final episode on May 21, folks tuned in to see how the story of Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) and his colleagues at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital ended. But as the finale was premiering on TV, the show's social team left everyone in tears by posting one last behind-the-scenes Instagram photo of the cast and some key crew members behind the series.
As Freddie stood in the middle next to creators Liz Friedman and David Shore, folks saw his co-stars Christina Chang, Richard Schiff, Bria Henderson, Fiona Gubelmann, Will Yun Lee, Kayla Cromer and Wavvy Jones smile for the camera to document their time working together.
"When you touch one life you don't just touch one life, you touch every life that that life touches," read the caption, quoting Shaun's dedication to his mentor, Dr. Aaron Glassman, in the final moments of The Good Doctor.
Upon seeing the cast and crew together one last time, folks were immediately emotional about The Good Doctor ending on such a high note.
"Freddie Highmore is such an underrated actor. He is outstanding. I’m still crying," one person wrote in the comments. "I can’t believe it’s over ?? I can’t stop crying; I’ll forever miss @thegooddoctorabc," another penned. "?????? AMAZING! Thank you GOOD DOCTOR for enriching my life these years! ??," a different follower added.
As fans know, the final episode of The Good Doctor saw Shaun operating on his friend Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas) after she went into septic shock while undergoing treatment for breast cancer. As Shaun also grapples with the news that Dr. Glassman's brain cancer returned and he has a limited amount of time left to live, he desperately looked for a treatment to cure his mentor. This led the two to have an emotional heart-to-heart, with Shaun accepting Dr. Glassman's wishes and letting him spend the rest of his life in peace.
What's more, as the show jumped a few years later, folks saw Shaun honor his late boss in a moving TED talk and establish a foundation in Dr. Glassman's name. As Shaun explained, the goal of the organization was to pay it forward and transform the lives of patients — much like Dr. Glassman did for him.
Well, now we're crying!
