News about the future of Good Omen comes less than a week after Disney put a planned feature adaptation of Gaiman’s 2008 YA title The Graveyard Book on pause amid a series of sexual assault allegations against the award-winning author. (Insiders said multiple factors went into the decision). Gaiman has denied the allegations and said he was “disturbed” by them.
This summer, the U.K.-based Tortoise Media released the podcast Master: the Allegations Against Neil Gaiman that chronicled the accounts of four women.
In December, Good Omen was renewed for a third and final season with Gaiman continuing to serve as executive producer, writer, and showrunner. Michael Sheen is returning as Aziraphale, a fussy angel and rare book dealer, while David Tennant plays the fast-living demon Crowley. This unlikely duo has teamed up to save the world from the apocalypse.
Good Omens is based on the novel Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Sir Terry Pratchett and Gaiman. The new season is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, BBC Studios Productions, the Blank Corporation, and Narrativia.
