Gordo Calls “Legend” DJ Mustard A “Strange Guy” In Defense Of Drake
Gordo has found himself in the middle of Drake’s spat with DJ Mustard and recently returned the “strange” energy the “Not Like Us” producer has had towards Drake as of late.
Gordo, formerly known as DJ Carnage, recently credited Mustard for his accolades, deeming him a “legend,” but dubbed him as a “strange guy,” sarcastically echoing Mustard’s recent comments about Drake.
“I will not tolerate any dj mustard slander,” Gordo wrote on X this past Sunday (Aug. 25). “That guy is a f**king legend… made multiple classics.. and had one the most iconic runs ever as a producer.. he’s just a strange guy.”
While Gordo appears to have little ill will towards Mustard, his relationship with Drake has caused him to seemingly come to the rapper’s defense in the wake of his perceived defeat to Kendrick Lamar following their rap battle.
He previously challenged the notion that Drake was saddened or disappointed by the backlash and ridicule received, claiming the hitmaker is “happy as sh*t” despite the perception surrounding him.
“Ever since all this has happened … I’ve seen him happier,” Gordo said in an interview last month. “It’s really weird. He’s pretty jolly.”
“The internet makes it seem like, ‘Oh, that photo, he’s all sad and sh*t.’ That’s just a bad photo from a bad camera. But because it’s him, it’s put under a magnifying glass like, ‘Oh, look at his eyes. He’s looking a little droopy. He hasn’t slept.’ But the guy’s been happy as sh*t, to be honest. He’s chilling.”
Gordo has worked extensively with Drake in recent years, producing multiple songs on the albums Honestly, Nevermind and For All the Dogs, including the hit single “Rich Baby Daddy” featuring Sexyy Red and SZA.
Drake also made guest appearances on Gordo’s recently released EP, Diamante, which dropped in July.
