Grammy ratings lowest in years

The 57th annual Grammy Awards hit a low note in the ratings Sunday night, which saw the CBS telecast utterly dominate broadcast rivals while slipping in popularity from recent years. The Grammys had 25.3 million viewers and a 8.5 rating among adults 18-49, down 11 percent in viewrs and 14 percent in the adult demo (in fact, it was the show’s lowest demo rating in six years).

Airing against the midseason return of AMC’s monsterously popular The Walking Dead (the ratings for which will be in shortly) probably didn’t help either. The Grammys did manage to rank as broadcast’s highest-rated entertainment program so far this season.

The ceremony crowned English artist Sam Smith as the night’s big winner while Beck surprised by taking home Album of the Year (much to the annoyance of Kanye West). Here is a full list of winners and our grades of the night’s biggest moments.
