Grammys 2024: Here Are All The Winners
It’s Taylor Swift’s world ― we’re just living in it.
That was the prevailing theme during the 2024 Grammy Awards on Sunday, when Swift picked up Album of the Year for “Midnights,” making her the first artist in history to win in that category four times.
Yet the night’s most buzzed-about moment was, without question, Swift’s surprise announcement of a brand-new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” after “Midnights” won the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album.
In addition to Swift, female artists dominated the 66th annual ceremony. Phoebe Bridgers emerged as the night’s biggest winner, with a total of four Grammys ― three of which were with her band, boygenius. SZA, Victoria Monét and the soundtrack to last summer’s blockbuster “Barbie” each nabbed a total of three wins. And Billie Eilish and Miley Cyrus matched Swift’s 2024 wins with two Grammys apiece.
As for performances, Dua Lipa kicked off the show with a slickly choreographed medley of “Dance the Night” and “Houdini,” along with a few lines of her forthcoming single, “Training Session.”
Other highlights included Fantasia Barrino’s tribute to the late Tina Turner and country artist Luke Combs’ goosebump-inducing take on “Fast Car,” sung in duet with Tracy Chapman, who wrote and recorded the original version of the song.
Meanwhile, music legends Billy Joel and Joni Mitchell used the night to usher in the next phase of their much-buzzed-about comebacks.
Mitchell, a 10-time Grammy winner, delivered her first-ever live performance at the ceremony with a tender version of her 1969 classic “Both Sides Now.” Joel, meanwhile, showcased “Turn the Lights Back On,” his first new single in 17 years. And though she didn’t perform, Celine Dion was greeted with a standing ovation when she appeared to present Album of the Year. It was her first appearance at the Grammys following her 2022 announcement that she’d been diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder.
