Granville Blues Fest bringing 'vibe of community' this weekend
The summer months of June and July often find the Granville neighborhood jumping and swaying to the sounds of Muddy Waters, Koko Taylor, Jonny Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy and more.
Packed in a strip mall parking lot on Brown Deer Road is the annual Granville Blues Fest, featuring local and regional acts performing original tunes or covers of favorite blues performers.
This year's Blues Fest is shortened to only one weekend because of the Republican National Convention. The fest usually runs two weekends — one in June and another in July. This year's festival runs three days — Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 8633 W. Brown Deer Rd.
Mary Hoehne, executive director of the Granville Business Improvement District, said the fest has a different vibe that attracts a diverse audience.
“It’s different from any festival," she said. "It has a vibe of community and a vibe of everything that Milwaukee can be."
