‘Greta’ Trailer: Chlo? Grace Moretz Vs. Isabelle Huppert In Neil Jordan Stalker Thriller
Focus Features has taken the wraps off Greta, the stalker suspense thriller starring Chlo? Grace Moretz and Isabelle Huppert that it fought for and won for $6 million during an all-night auction earlier this fall at the Toronto Film Festival. Neil Jordan directed and co-wrote with Ray Wright. The film has March 1 release date.
Moretz plays Frances, a sweet, na?ve young woman trying to make it on her own in New York City who doesn’t think twice about returning the handbag she finds on the subway to its rightful owner. That owner is Greta (Isabelle Huppert), an eccentric French piano teacher with a love for classical music and an aching loneliness. Having recently lost her mother, Frances quickly grows closer to widowed Greta. The two become fast friends — but Greta’s maternal charms begin to dissolve and grow increasingly disturbing as Frances discovers that nothing in Greta’s life is what it seems. Maika Monroe, Colm Feore and Stephen Rea co-star.
Sidney Kimmel, John Penotti, James Flynn, Lawrence Bender and Karen Richards are producers. The pic was financed by Kimmel’s SKE and Starlight Culture, which also backed Crazy Rich Asians. This is not that movie, though, with the trailer showing off an eerieness reminiscent of another Jordan thriller, The Crying Game.
