Lead singer Adelaido “Payo” Solís III’s voice soars as he begs a lover to not leave him. While listing reasons for her to stay, he name-checks Karol G, a cheeky nod to the superstar who worked with Edgar Barrera, the hit producer helped write “Quédate Bebé” alongside Karol’s frequent collaborator Kevyn “Keityn” Mauricio Cruz and pop hit-maker Benny Blanco.
“This song, like most of our songs, has so much emotion behind it,” Grupo Frontera says. “It makes you want to dance, to laugh, to cry, and everything in between and we love how we are able to continue to create music that makes you feel so deeply.”
Grupo Frontera brings the strong emotion behind “Quédate Bebé” to life in a music video that was shot by Abelardo Baez. The camera captures a sweeping view of Los Angeles as the guys pour their heart into the track, literally taking their performance to new heights. The song will be included on Grupo Frontera’s anticipated second album.
Grupo Frontera helped push música mexicana into the mainstream last year. Thanks to their refreshing mix of norte?o and cumbia music, the group charted multiple songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. One of Grupo Frontera’s most surprising collaborations was “Un x100” with Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny, which led Bad Bunny to invite the group to perform the song during his historic headlining set at Coachella in April last year.
How will Grupo Frontera keep the momentum going this year? “By continuing to stay true to ourselves but also experimenting,” the band tells Rolling Stone. “We are grateful for everything we accomplished last year and this year we hope to keep growing and expanding our audiences all over the world by showing them that we can do so many different sounds that they may not expect from us.”
