‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Star Pom Klementieff Reveals Talks With James Gunn To Play “One Specific Character” In DCU
The Marvel-to-DC pipeline appears to be heating up as Pom Klementieff teases her next super role.
While appearing at San Antonio’s Superhero Comic Con, the French actress revealed she’s “been talking” to DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn about joining the DCU after first working together on the MCU’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017).

When asked what character she’d like to play in the newly rebooted cinematic universe, Agents of Fandom reported that Klementieff responded, “Do you really think I’m going to answer this question?”
“I just want to keep working with James, so we’re going to keep trying to find ways to do that,” she added. “Yes, we’ve been talking about one specific character, but I can’t talk about that right now.”
She stars in the MCU as Mantis, having also appeared in Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019) and Thor: Love and Thunder (2022).
Klementieff explained, “It was always my dream to be an X-Men or part of a Marvel movie. Then, I saw the first Guardians of the Galaxy, and it became my first Marvel movie ever. Then, I got cast in the second one. I feel so lucky.”
As for whether she’ll reprised her MCU role, Klementieff said she’s “always open to it,” adding: “I love the character. I’m sure the fans would love to see it, but I don’t know. It depends on the project.”
Although she’s yet to officially join the DCU, Klementieff previously made an uncredited cameo as a dancer in Gunn’s The Suicide Squad (2021).
Since taking over DC Studios with Peter Safran in 2022, Gunn has been hard at work directing Superman: Legacy, which will kick off a new DC multiverse.
After confirming he’s open to casting MCU actors in his upcoming DCU work, Gunn told Empire that a crossover between the two comic book worlds is “more likely now that I’m in charge,” adding: “That’s many years away, though. I think we have to establish what we’re doing [at DC] first. I would be lying to say that we haven’t discussed it. But all discussions have been very, very light and fun.”
