Guy Fieri Issues an Important Reminder While Accepting Award for a Worthy Cause
Guy Fieri recently accepted an award for a worthy cause—and the Food Network personality issued an important reminder while doing so.
On Tuesday, July 30, the Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives star took to Instagram to share the big news.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the VFW, the Guy Fieri Foundation and I are honored and very grateful to accept the Commander-in-Chief Gold Medal of Merit," he said in a video.
"When I started the Guy Fieri Foundation, it was organizations like the VFW that really inspired me and set the standard for honoring, celebrating and supporting our heroes past, present and future," Fieri, 56, continued.
He then shared a reminder with this followers, declaring: "Our veterans, their families and their legacies deserve our respect, compassion and continued support as we remember their sacrifices and recognize them for giving us their greatest gift: freedom."

Additionally, Fieri shared that he is "continually inspired by the stories of bravery and resilience: as he interacts with "veterans, active military and their families."
He added, "The VFW's selfless devotion to duty and unwavering commitment to serving these great folks is a consistent reminder of the importance of our collective work."
In the comments, Instagram followers lauded Fieri for his support of veterans and celebrated his accomplishment. One wrote, "Proud achievement and well deserved. Congratulations, Guy!"
Another shared, "Congratulations!! You’re such an incredible human!"
Meanwhile, Van Halen's Sam Hagar commented, "You should be proud, my friend you've been doing this a long time and let it be known. This isn't the only great cause you support. You're a good man my brother that's why we're partners.????."
