Guy Fieri Unveils How He Maintains His Iconic Spike Hairstyle: 'Best Stuff Ever'

Guy Fieri

Guy Fieri is dishing on something other than a recipe: how he maintains his iconic spiked hairstyle.

The restauranteur has become known for his signature look, which usually consists of a bold, printed bowling shirt and his edgy, bleach-blonde hairdo, just as much as he's known for his work in the food industry.

Now, he's opening up about how exactly he keeps his tresses in tip-top shape, revealing the product and method used to help him achieve the "spike."

Surprisingly, the TV personality frequents just one staple go-to item that handles all his hair worries: a firm gel. To be more specific, J Beverly Hills Blue Clear Finishing Wax is his holy grail.

"This was a long time ago, like 17 or 18 years ago," Fieri told Today of how many years it's been since he began using the product. He further explained how he was haphazardly introduced to the finishing wax, and it turns out, it was on a whim. "I was in the airport, and a lady came up to me and touched my hair. And she was like, 'What do you use in your hair?' and I was like, 'I don't know, I use gel?'" he recalled.

The Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives host remembered seeing the woman appear outside of his parked vehicle, knocking on the car window. "She's like, 'Hey, I just happened to see you. I have some of this hair wax.' And she gives it to me. I'm like, OK, whatever. So I throw it in my backpack. Fast forward a month later, I'm shooting the show; it's a hot day, I'm sweating, I'm losing my spike. And I don't know what to do."

Luckily, though, he was reminded of his encounter with the random woman and the gift she presented him with. "I go, oh, gosh, I have that stuff that lady gave me," he went on. "And I take it, I put my hair and I'm like well, this is the best stuff ever."

As the saying goes, the rest is history—or should we say, hairstory!
