Gwyneth Paltrow Gives Health Update on Mom Blythe Danner After Medical Incident at Charity Event
On Saturday, July 13, actress Blythe Danner was reportedly at the Springs Food Pantry's E.A.T. in the Hidden Gardens 2024 event in East Hampton, N.Y., when she was taken away from the event in an ambulance due to a medical incident.
A source spoke with People about the incident, saying, "It was early on in the event and she sat there for a while as they took her vitals. It didn't look that bad, but they took her away anyway."
Later, a rep from Blythe's daughter Gwyneth Paltrow's company Goop shared a statement explaining that the 81-year-old was "completely fine" after the event.
It's unclear what led Blythe to receive medical aid at the Hamptons gathering, and neither Gwyneth nor her mother have shared anything further about the situation.
Gwyneth is the daughter of Blythe and the late Bruce Paltrow, who died in 2002. She also has a brother named Jake.
The Shakespeare in Love actress and her mother appear to be very close, and they've even worked together a couple of times. Both actresses starred in the TV movie Cruel Doubt in 1992 and the film Sylvia in 2003, playing mother and daughter in the latter.
Previously, Blythe was diagnosed with oral cancer after noticing side effects and a lump in 2018. She fought the disease for many years, sharing the positive news that she was in remission in late 2022.
At the time, she told People, "I kept it from my kids for a long time. I wanted to forge ahead as a mother, and I didn't want them to worry."
Gwyneth also commented on the health crisis, noting that it was the same type of cancer that her father died from: "I was obviously very shocked. It was scary. And it felt really eerie because it was so similar [to my dad's]... She went through it with so much grace. I was amazed at how strong she was able to be."
Since then, neither Gwyneth nor her mother Blythe have commented on possible health issues.
