Gwyneth Paltrow Reportedly Has Some Strong Feelings About Ex Chris Martin’s Relationship Troubles
When a couple goes through a divorce, especially one with kids involved, the hope is that they can continue to be civil, perhaps swallowing their pride and even becoming friends along the way. For Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, their “conscious uncoupling” in 2014 was just that: a moment when they went from husband and wife to, ultimately, friends.
Now, ten years after their headline-making split, Paltrow’s not only friends with Martin, but she’s reportedly trying to help out in his relationship with Dakota Johnson too.

“Gwyneth is determined to see Chris marry Dakota, which is sweet on one-hand, but it’s also very controlling,” a source recently told Life & Style. “At the end of the day she wants to have her say in who he’s with.”
In other words, Paltrow approves of Johnson, and wants to do anything in her power to make them work out, especially since rumors of a split between them reached an all-time high last month.
“Of course, Gwyneth insists she loves Dakota and knows she’s the right partner for Chris and is coming on super strong with both of them, trying to pressure them to do this all her way,” the source said of the Oscar winner.
Martin and Johnson, on the other hand, aren’t being too receptive to Paltrow’s butting in. “Last thing they need is to have Gwyneth sticking her nose in trying to play counselor,” the source said. “It’s just very intrusive and she doesn’t seem to get that she’s way overstepping her boundaries.”
“She’s convinced she can save the day and has even tried to take over the wedding planning, since she’s convinced all the back and forth about getting married is at the root of their problems,” the source continued.
They added, “She means well, but she’s like some sort of tornado trying to force two adults to do her bidding and it’s not helping one bit.”
As a reminder, Martin and Johnson started dating in 2017 after being set up by mutual friends. They didn’t confirm their relationship until a year later, and they moved in together in 2021. In 2024, a source confirmed their engagement in March. “They got engaged years ago but were in no rush to get married,” a source told People. Then, when rumors about their relationship troubles started spiraling a few months later, a source confirmed they were still together. “They are happily together,” a source told People in August.
May they continue to be, with or without Paltrow’s help!
