Halle Berry Reveals She Was 'Madly in Love' With Van Hunt Before They Ever Had Sex

Halle Berry is 58 years old and possibly in the happiest time of her life. It took a long time for everything to fall in place for the Oscar winner though, because she often struggled with finding peace in her love life. That is until she met Van Hunt.

The 54-year-old musician became a game changer in her life just as the world shut down for the pandemic in 2020. “I created my career. I was intentional about that. I knew what I was going to do, and I did it,” she admitted to Marie Claire. “But I had never been that intentional with my relationships. I was loosey-goosey with that.” After becoming focused on her personal-life intentions, Berry scored an introduction to Hunt through his brother.

Since it was the quarantine stage of COVID-19, Berry and Hunt used technology to let their love blossom with texts and phone calls. They shared “the good, the bad, where all of the bodies were buried” in their romantic pasts until six months into their undefined friendship, they met in person — and things were different this time around. “It was the first time I was madly in love before I had sex. That has never happened to me, ever,” Berry gushed. “Talk about one of those life-changing, beautiful experiences. It was magical, just magical.”

Berry has been married three times: David Justice from 1993-1197, Eric Benét from 2001-2005, and Olivier Martinez from 2013-2016. She is currently embroiled in a child custody case with Martinez over their conflicting parenting styles for their son, Maceo, 10. She also shares a daughter, Nahla, 16, with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry. Berry admitted at the 2017 City Summit, via E! News, that it was “not easy” over the years “to deal with three failed marriages.”

“And, you know, I think everybody, especially women, we go into a marriage thinking that it’s going to last forever, and this is our prince, you know, on that shiny horse,” she noted. “That’s what fairy tales taught me as a kid, and I’m kind of anti-fairy tales today. But we go in there with that hope. And so, when it falls apart, it feels like a huge failure and a huge disappointment.” But now, the Moonfall star finally has her happy ending with Hunt.

“It took me a minute to get it right,” she summed up to Marie Claire. “But the nature of the way this happened, I have a real belief that this is it. This is my person.”
