Hannah Montana, Is That You? Miley Cyrus Honors Her Disney Days with New Hairstyle

Miley Cyrus had the ultimate throwback Thursday, when a trip to the salon brought back her iconic Hannah Montana hair from over a decade ago.

The “Party in the U.S.A.” singer, 26, channeled her Disney alter ego with the hair transformation, dying her light brown hair back to the long blonde locks and blunt bangs she rocked for four seasons in her breakout role.

Her move came days after Cyrus celebrated Hannah Montana‘s 13th anniversary by posting a series of retro photos and memes.

“You know guys, it was so hard going back and forth that I decided that I’ll just be Hannah forever,” she joked on a video shared on her social media channels — referencing her character Miley Stewart, the brunette teenager who secretly moonlighted as a pop star when wearing a blonde wig.

“She was getting a lot of press this week, thanks to me!” Cyrus added, even sharing a #10YearChallenge side-by-side photo (in which she hilariously declared, “I win!”).

Of course, unlike the ‘do she wore on Hannah Montana, this new look isn’t a wig.

“It’s all me,” Cyrus said on colorist Justin Anderson’s Instagram story after the transformation. “I can’t believe that’s my f—ing hair! My hair is so long, that’s no weave!”

Anderson, co-founder of dpHUE, was just one of the people behind Cyrus’ classic new look. Joining him and Cyrus at dpHUE House (his invite-only hair studio) was celebrity hairstylist Sally Hershberger.

“JUST BANGED MILEY,” Hershberger teased on Instagram.

After her visit to the salon, Cyrus took her new look for a spin on the town.

In the car, she sang along to old Hannah Montana songs, including “Nobody’s Perfect” — to which she added, “except me, of course.”

While singing “The Best of Both Worlds,” Cyrus teased, “Like when [you’ve] taken an upper and a downer at the same time. Like if you take a little molly and smoke a joint.”

Then there was an unexpected new track: Migos’ 2013 jam, “Hannah Montana.”

To complete the throwback, Cyrus snapped a picture of herself with her finger to her lips in a silencing gesture, an iconic pose from previous Hannah Montana promos.

A quick outfit change to something more Cyrus’ style — specifically, a black Alice in Chains shirt with Loree Rodkin and Sydney Evan jewelry — had the singer declaring “Hannah is punk now.”

She was later seen at the Bon Jovi Hampton Water event in Los Angeles, holding court at a table with Dakota Fanning and toasting Jon Bon Jovi and his 24-year-old son Jesse Bongiovi with a glass of rosé.

Hannah Montana debuted on the Disney Channel in 2006 and ran for 98 episodes until the series finale in 2011.

Reflecting on her time on the show, Cyrus previously admitted that achieving such early fame had a lasting effect on her life.

“I liked being in the Disney universe ’cause I didn’t know anything else. I knew I was getting to live what I wanted to do,” Cyrus said during a sit-down with CBS Sunday Morning. “I think now that I’m older now, I realize that’s a lot to put on a kid.”

She continued, “It’s a lot to put on a kid to have them have to get their makeup done and then also balance school and then also have me dress up in a wig. It’s a little Toddlers and Tiaras.”

When asked whether she looks back on her Hannah Montana days positively, the singer replied, “I definitely look back on it as a good time. I think what was hard for me was balancing everything. I think it got harder when I started touring as both — I toured as Hannah Montana and as myself.”

“I think that’s probably what’s a little bit wrong with me now!” she added. “I mark that up to doing some extreme damage in my psyche as an adult person.”

But Cyrus said she wouldn’t go back and change a thing.

“I loved being that character,” she said. “And honestly, music is everything and all people wanna have is great music and for that audience, for what that was, that was great music for kids to listen to. there’s a song called ‘Life’s What You Make It, so Let’s Make It Rock.’ Never forget that— wise words. That’s a good thing to tell kids.”
