Happy 70th Birthday, Pat Sajak! Here Are His Best ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Moments
Pat Sajak is 70 years young today. Since 1981, Sajak has hosted the most popular wheel-based game show, Wheel of Fortune! He briefly left the gig to host his own late-night talk show from January 1989 to April 1990.
Thankfully, he went back to the syndicated version of Wheel shortly thereafter. Right by his side, throughout the good years and bad, is Vanna White, the Queen of Making Letters Appear! Sajak once tried to replace the hostess, but found it’s much harder than it looks, going so far as to remark that her job made him “exhausted.”
On April Fool’s Day 1997, he took the opportunity to prank two audiences at once and trade places with Alex Trebek on Jeopardy. And that’s not Sajak’s only hilarious yuck-’em-up! He pulled a fast one on Vanna a few years back with a bald cap and wig.
