HARDY and Nickelback Team Up to Perform a Fierce, Hard-Rock Rendition of 'Truck Bed' on “CMT Crossroads ”(Exclusive)
HARDY and Nickelback's full 'CMT Crossroads' set airs on April 6 at 8/7 CT on CMT
HARDY and Nickelback are both "big rockstars" on CMT's Crossroads.
The country star and the rock band are the latest artists to team up on the hit performance series, CMT Crossroads. Before their full set, which was filmed earlier this month in Nashville, airs on CMT on April 6, PEOPLE is exclusively premiering their rendition of HARDY's hit "Truck Bed."
In the country-rock singer and Canadian group's performance of the song off the 2023 album The Mockingbird & the Crow, the two artists transform it into a hard-rock anthem.

While HARDY sings the first few verses, accompanied by all of Nickelback, the band's frontman Chad Kroeger eventually takes over the vocals on the second verse. Kroeger's groveled, rockstar-like voice lends well to the song, and he ends up giving extra power to the emotional lyrics as he wails the chorus.
At one point, the "Wait in the Truck" singer (whose real name is Michael Wilson Hardy) yells, "Chad!" and proceeds to totally jam out to the riotous track.
HARDY and Kroeger, 49, both celebrate their collaboration at the end of the song by fist-bumping one another and smiling.

The hitmakers' joint performance of "Truck Bed" comes as the song just peaked at No. 1 on the Country Airplay charts for the first time. The country hit is simultaneously sitting pretty within the top 10 of the Hot Country Songs chart, as well as the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100.
"Truck Bed" is one of the many songs HARDY is set to perform with the Grammy-nominated band on CMT Crossroads: Nickelback & HARDY. Fans can also expect the two to play renditions of Nickelback's "Animals" and "Savin' Me," as well as the country star's "Give Heaven Some Hell."
The hitmakers will even debut a performance of a special mashup of their two songs titled "Rockstar." (HARDY recently released his single "Rockstar" earlier this year in February, while Nickelback dropped their hit of the same name in 2005.)
CMT Crossroads is actually not the first time the ACM award winner and the "Photograph" band have linked up.
Last year when Nickelback brought their Get Rollin' Tour to Nashville in August, they surprised the crowd by bringing HARDY out on stage. The singer-songwriter joined the band at Bridgestone Arena for a special performance of his 2023 fan-favorite song "SOLD OUT," which he shared footage of on TikTok after the show.

The two acts' full episode of CMT Crossroads, which pairs a country musician up with an artist from another genre for a joint performance, is set to premiere on CMT during the weekend of the 2024 CMT Music Awards. Fans will be able to tune into the latest CMT Crossroads installment on April 6 at 8/7 CT on CMT, and it'll later stream on Paramount+.
At this year's awards ceremony, HARDY is up for two belt buckles. "Truck Bed" is nominated for both male video of the year and the coveted video of the year award.
Fans can vote now for all categories. While 16 artists compete for video of the year in the first round of voting for video of the year, the top six nominees will be announced on April 1 and the final three acts, from the second round of voting, will be announced on the day of the awards show.
The CMT Music Awards, hosted by Kelsea Ballerini, air live from the Moody Theater in Austin on April 7 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
