Harley Quinn Spin-off Kite Man: Hell Yeah Sets Max Release Date
More than two years after being first announced, the Harley Quinn spin-off series Kite Man: Hell Yeah! has received an imminent release date on Max.
When does Kite Man: Hell Yeah release on Max?
Max has revealed in a new promotional reel that Kite Man: Hell Yeah! will premiere on its streaming platform on July 18, 2024. Originally titled Noonan’s, the spin-off series will follow Kite Man (Matt Oberg) and his girlfriend, Golden Glider, as they run Gotham City’s seediest dive bar, Noonan’s. Both Kite Man and Noonan’s were previously introduced in Harley Quinn. The first trailer for Kite Man: Hell Yeah! was released in September 2023.
While plot details remain scarce, co-showrunner Patrick Schumacker previously revealed that the spin-off series was pitched as “Cheers for supervillains.” He added, “It’s gonna be heavily set in the bar, but it’s a comic-book show with capes, so naturally, it’s gonna want action and that’s gonna lead to some pretty far-out places.”
Kite Man: Hell Yeah! is one of the few remaining projects greenlit under the old DC regime that has yet to be released. With all of DC’s film and television content now overseen by DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, the plan is more the majority of future projects to take place within the forthcoming DC Universe, a shared universe that will begin this December with the adult animated series, Creature Commandos.
However, despite this plan, Gunn shared that there will still be projects that exist outside the DCU, which will be released under the DC Elseworlds branding. Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, as well as the forthcoming Harley Quinn Season 5, are expected to fall under this label. Other Batman-related projects confirmed to be part of DC Elseworlds include Matt Reeves’ The Batman Saga (The Batman, The Penguin, The Batman Part II) and Todd Phillips’ upcoming Joker sequel, Folie à Deux (2024), as well as the animated Merry Little Batman movie on Prime Video.
Kite Man: Hell Yeah! premieres on July 18 on Max. Ahead of the spin-off’s release, DC fans can get reacquainted with Kite Man’s story by watching the first four seasons of Harley Quinn, also available on Max.
